28. Reflection

Water in its winter garb
shares many attributes
with its fluid friend
of spring –

falling from the sky
moving in the wind
filling holes, covering fields.
Only in spring does it begin to

reflect

Perhaps we, too, need to thaw
hearts, attitudes, behaviours,
melt down walls and flood trenches
where we have fortified our defences

and reflect

look at ourselves for
who we really
are beyond the dazzle
and glitter of our
wintery snow-white selves.
